Sounds very crazy writing it down, but I guess that's what PhDs can be like! Would love to speak Berber but will make do with English (mother tongue) Hungarian (my BA) and Dutch (family language)... Just wish (although I shouldn't say this) my kids weren't growing up with a brummie accent!!Playing by the bookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02761644438775249830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907149953224165300.post-49794259554866515462011-01-10T21:40:04.888+00:002011-01-10T21:40:04.888+00:00It's a clothes shop now, sadly. The children's bookshop in Muswell Hill is lovely, and I have a soft spot for Prospero's Books in Crouch End too.

I had no idea the barristas spoke Berber. Is that your first language?Alihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02536038271600515021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907149953224165300.post-16190915022944252802011-01-10T20:20:18.413+00:002011-01-10T20:20:18.413+00:00I know of the Big Green Bookshop via you - it was ...I know of the Big Green Bookshop via you - it was still waterstones when we left - but I love the sound of this new (or at least new to me) bookshop. I used to spend my weekends walking through Ally Pally up to the children's bookshop in Muswell Hill, via coffees in the garden centre and on the broadway. It was a tough life. :-)
Waterstones had a great crowd of Berber speaking barristas and I was always finding money in the sofa there... fond memories!Playing by the bookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02761644438775249830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907149953224165300.post-4192440069341345992011-01-10T14:39:40.288+00:002011-01-10T14:39:40.288+00:00Yes, that is my stomping ground! Are you aware of ...Yes, that is my stomping ground! Are you aware of the fabulous Big Green Bookshop (see the blog Open A Bookshop, What Could Possibly Go Wrong on my list) which opened after Ottakars in Wood Green was taken over by Waterstones, then closed down? If you're ever in the area, I do recommend it- they tweet as @biggreenbooks.

Due to nasty flu, we haven't watched The Moomins yet, but it's earmarked for the weekend.

I'm aware of the animation version, but haven't watched it- I'll get onto it. (UKL is a little sniffy about it, but I loved the animation of Howl's Magic Castle, which was hardly a faithful adaptation either!) BBC7 repeat the audio adaptation fairly regularly. Unfortunately I don't think it's been released as an audiobook.

Thank you for your comments; I'm enjoying your Reading Round Europe posts as well.Alihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02536038271600515021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907149953224165300.post-88276902630002785932011-01-10T13:33:54.940+00:002011-01-10T13:33:54.940+00:00Hi Ali,
I've been really enjoying your tweets ...Hi Ali,
I've been really enjoying your tweets and posts since the Moomins helped our paths cross! (Have you watch your boyfriend's DVDs yet ;-) ) In another funny coincidence we used to live in Noel Park/Turnpike Lane and I have the feeling your current stomping grounds are not too dissimilar to my old ones... If we could move back I would in a flash. Thanks for the link to the audiodrama. Such a shame I can download it as I don't think I'll have time today to listen to the first episode before it goes offline. :-( Have you seen the Miyazaki adaptation? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tales-Earthsea-DVD-Goro-Miyazaki/dp/B000UYBOTM/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_ttl_in
I haven't yet but I'd like to.Playing by the bookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02761644438775249830noreply@blogger.com
